EG Tennis Group Gives Once Again to Elk Grove High School

The Elk Grove High School (EGHS) Tennis Program once again has benefited from the generosity of community tennis players. The EG Tennis Group recently donated $276 dollars collected from it’s generous players to donate to the Elk Grove High School Tennis Program. The tennis nets were old and worn, with large holes where the top seam (the tape) is sewn to the net.

This is not the first time EG Tennis Group has donated to the high school. In 2013, EG Tennis Group raised over $300 to purchase windscreens, and with the assistance of a local fencing company, S&S Fencing Company Vice-President Gary Siewert provided the man-power, tools, and materials to install the windscreens on the courts.

Over the years that the EG Tennis Group has played on the EGHS Tennis courts, players have contributed donations of center net straps, made repairs to the fence and gates, donated new gate latches, cleaned up the courts of debris, pulled weeds, and generally prevent vandalism to the courts by providing a consistent presence on the courts.

EG Tennis Group was started in 2006 has a handful of players looking to find enough players to play doubles. Over the years, the group has grown and has a Facebook presence of over 150 members. EG Tennis plays every Saturday year-round, and members use the Facebook venue to meet other days of the week for play. Players of all skill levels are encouraged to come out and meet the group. EG Tennis Group holds social tournaments and fundraisers, usually to benefit the EGHS Tennis Program.
