28th Annual John Lewis Memorial Trail Ride and Dinner Dance Benefits Therapeutic Riding Program
The day begins with a homemade country breakfast at 8 a.m. with the riding getting underway after breakfast. The Barton Rancho in Sloughhouse is a spectular location for trail riding. The rolling hills past Rancho Murieta between Jackson Highway and Highway 50 are an ocean of green, featuring vernal pools, old-growth oak trees and lovely wildflowers. The ride traverses through fields of grazing cattle and crosses sseveral creeks. After lunch, there is the option of another ride before returning to Elk Grove, where the fun continuies at the Project RIDE arena.
Back at the Project RIDE arena, the evening begins with a no-host social hour at 6 p.m. The entertainment continues with a special "American Idol Country Style" presentation, performed by our Jessie Baker students. BBQ rid eye steaks with all the trimmin's will be served at 7 p.m. followed by a great array of raffle items, live and silent auctions and a special dessert auction. A live band will complete the evening with dancing and all proceeds generated benefit Project RIDE's therapeutic recreational horseback riding program, which serves over 400 students with special needs in a safe, strutured setting.
