Citywide Athletic Shoe Collection

Got old athletic shoes you've outgrown and haven't yet donated to Goodwill?  Good thing, for Elk Grove is starting Earth Week with a special program which involves collecting athletic shoes, which will be "processed and recycled into material used in basketball and tennis courts, athletic fields, running tracks and playgrounds," per the City of Elk Grove.

Meet Sacramento River Cats mascot, Dinger, and see the Team Green crew from Radio Disney at 8:30 a.m.

Can't make it on the 18th?  Feel free to drop off your shoes at any of the following locations:

Elk Grove City Hall, Barbara Morse Wackford Community & Aquatic Complex, Laguna Town Hall, Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Stations, Helen Carr Costello Elementary, Foulks Ranch Elementary, Pleasant Grove Elementary and James McKee Elementary, Joseph Sims Elementary, Stonelake Elementary, Laguna Creek HS, Pleasant Grove HS, Toby Johnson Middle School, Arthur C. Butler Elementary, Katherine L. Albiani Middle School and Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School.

Donated shoes must be dry and not contain metal or cleats; no dress shoes, please.
