A groundbreaking ceremony for the Oak Park store slated for Broadway and 34th Street was held Wednesday with Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and Fresh &amp; Easy Market chief executive officer Tim Mason. The Elk Grove store is planned to open sometime in 2012 at Elk Grove-Florin and Calvine roads. <a href="http://www.sacbee.com/2011/09/01/3876379/fresh-easy-breaks-ground-in-oak.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">The Sacramento Bee</a> reported that the project will also create about 300 construction jobs. Fresh &amp; Easy officials said the stores will dedicate shelf space to locally-grown produce. The chain has 177 stores in California, Nevada and Arizona, with a total of almost 5,000 employees.
