Grocery Outlet wrapped up their yearly Independence from Hunger Food Drive to benefit Elk Grove Food Bank

The Elk Grove Food Bank Services is pleased to announce the Grocery Outlet wrapped up their yearly Independence from Hunger Food Drive.

Elk Grove Grocery Outlet’s Independence from Hunger Food Drive benefits the clients of the Elk Grove Food Bank Elk Grove, CA — The Elk Grove Grocery Outlet wrapped up their yearly Independence from Hunger Food Drive in the month of July. The food drive benefited the hungry in the Elk Grove community. The Grocery Outlet’s core mission is to “Touch lives for the better” and designates the month of July, that is traditionally the time of year when food agencies experience the greatest need when children are out of school during the summer. Grocery Outlet stores nationwide participate and designate a local food bank to receive the food donations. The Elk Grove Food Bank Services (EGFBS) received 1,085 pounds of non-perishable food items from the donations given by Elk Grove Grocery Outlet customers. EGFBS Executive Director Marie Jachino said “Through local business partnerships we can all help in the effort to feed those in need. The independently owned Grocery Outlet has made a commitment to serve their community. We are honored to have been chosen to benefit from their food drive.”

About the Elk Grove Food Bank Service: Elk Grove Food Bank Services has been working to overcome hunger and human need since its beginning in 1974. Established at a local church to provide services to low-income and needy families in the Elk Grove area, EGFBS has expanded to meet the needs of the community. Programs developed over 40 years of community service address the need for: food and clothing, access to food assistance, supplemented food to low income seniors, nourishment to chronically-ill individuals to achieve self-sufficiency. Through the seven programs and services, Elk Grove Food Bank helps to meet the needs of individuals in our community. ###
