Home-Invaders Assault Man on Calvine Road, Police Say

The Elk Grove Police Department is investigating the incident.

Authorities say an Elk Grove man was assaulted by armed home invaders on Calvine Road Tuesday afternoon.

Elk Grove Police Department spokesman Chris Trim said the victim let two males into his home in the 10700 block of Calvine Road–possibly after being tricked into doing so.

The victim struggled with the intruders, who were armed with handguns, and was beaten, Trim said by phone. The two initial suspects took "miscellaneous personal property" from the home and fled with two more suspects, who had entered the home from the rear, he said.

At the time of the incident, three other adults and a young child were home with the victim.

They were last seen heading eastbound on Calvine Road in a "blue, compact car with tinted rear windows," Trim said.

Trim said when officers arrived, the victim "was located in a neighbor's yard probably 70-80 feet away from the actual residence." The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and head trauma.

No motive has been established, but Trim said in most cases, home invasion robberies are not random acts.
