Hot Temps Push On, How to Keep Cool

National Weather Service representatives announced today "record-breaking heat will once again affect much of the western U.S." To stay cool, Sacramento County officials encourage residents revisit ways to avoid the heat.

In Sacramento, area forecasters predict today's temperatures could range between 103 and 105 in parts of the Valley, including Elk Grove.

Sacramento City and County officials recently released lists of cooling tips. They are:

Tips for staying cool

• Limit outside activities

• Avoid becoming dehydrated

• Drink plenty of water

• Stay in cool environment

• Dress appropriately, wear lightweight, light-colored and loose-fitting clothing

• Drink cold drinks

• Taking cool showers to lower body temperature

• Limit sun exposure
