Jail Revamps Education, Support Programs

The Rio Cosumnes Correction Center south of Elk Grove is expanding its rehabilitation efforts for inmates, adding everything from welding classes to a new counseling program focused on destructive thought patterns, the Sacramento Bee reports.

The jail is who formerly would have been housed in state prisons, due to a law passed last year.

Elk Grove Unified School District employees also offer classes in landscaping and culinary arts, the Bee reports.
