June 10 Spotlight Event will Fund Scholarships
The Mosher Ranch fundraiser will feature food and blues music.
Spotlight at the Ranch - Barbecue and Blues will be here again on June 10. This is the large spring fundraiser for the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation that provides funding for college students. The Foundation is celebrating its 25th year, and 188 students received scholarships in 2012—a total of $155,000 provided by donors such as individuals, families, businesses, and other organizations. All proceeds from Spotlight at the Ranch will be used to help the Foundation continue and expand its mission of providing scholarships to students for college and careers.
Spotlight at the Ranch, a family picnic type event, will take place at the historic Mosher Ranch at 10161 Grant Line Road, just east of Elk Grove. The Mosher Family is providing the use of their working family ranch once again to support the Foundation and scholarships.
Featured at the Ranch will be some of the best blues music in Northern California with four great bands. Returning will be Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers, Nat Brown, and the Gary Mendoza Band. New this year is Val Starr and the Blues Rocket. There will also be activities for children such as a petting zoo and games and a magician. Tours will be conducted of the historic Mosher home that dates to the late 1800s, and there will be a display of carriages and coaches from the past. Great food will be available for purchase from Red Oak Barbecue and Pinkberry.
