Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Hospital Recognized For Patient Safety

Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento hospital is recognized with an A grade by The Leapfrog Group for providing safe, high-quality care to our members and patients.
According to The Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2026 Hospital Safety Grade, nine Kaiser Permanente hospitals in Northern California received A grades: Fresno, Manteca, Modesto, Redwood City, San Leandro, San Rafael, South Sacramento, South San Francisco, and Vacaville.

“This milestone is a direct reflection of our unwavering commitment to our patients and to the highest standards of care,” said Jay Robinson, senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente Sacramento and South Sacramento. “This safety grade represents extraordinary teamwork, vigilance, and dedication that is at work everyday.”

Leapfrog assesses hospitals on approximately two dozen measures, including patient injuries, medical and medication errors, and infections. Hospitals receive an A through F depending on their cumulative performance.

“Each of our physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and support teams played a vital role in making this possible,” said Peter Miles, MD, physician in chief for Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento. “Their daily actions collectively create a culture where safety is not just a priority, but a shared responsibility and a core value.”

The Leapfrog Group evaluates nearly 3,000 hospitals throughout the United States. The grades are issued twice annually, in the fall and spring.

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits, released its Hospital Safety Grades after examining publicly available data on patient injuries, medical and medication errors, and infections at U.S. hospitals. The report includes data collected by national health care organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Hospitals are then assigned A through F grades for their safety records. The grades are released as a free resource to help patients and their families make informed health care decisions.

Kaiser Permanente is one of America’s leading integrated health care providers and serves 12.6 million members. Nationally, 23 of the 40 Kaiser Permanente hospitals, or nearly 60%, received a Leapfrog Hospital Safety A grade. In contrast, approximately 30% of the nation’s other hospitals received an A rating.
