Local Candidate Nikita Kostyuk Announces Run for School Board
Would Become First Elected Official of Slavic Heritage
Today local candidate Nikita Kostyuk announced his campaign for the Area 7 trustee seat on the Elk Grove School Board. He will officially file papers with the Sacramento County Voter Registrar later in the week. Nikita plans to run an aggressive campaign and actively reach out to parents and voters in the district. He currently works as a substitute teacher for Bradshaw Christian School and helps his father with their family owned trucking business.
“I have grown up around Elk Grove my entire life,” said Nikita. “It would be an honor and a privilege to give back to my community through public service. I know that I can bring a unique and fresh perspective to the board and affect positive change in my local school district.”
“Nikita is an inspiring candidate,” said longtime Elk Grove resident Ingrid Azvedo. “He can move Elk Grove Unified in the right direction for the future.” Elk Grove community leader Barbara Sloan concurred: “Nikita brings a new vision to the school district and would inject some new blood and energy among the trustees.”
If elected to office, Nikita would become the first elected official in Sacramento County to come from an Eastern European heritage. Nikita’s parents, Oleg and Karina Kostyuk, immigrated to the United States from the small country of Moldova. “It’s exciting that our community has a chance to elect one of our own to represent us on the school board level,” said Vitaliy Ivanilov, a local Slavic voter. “I’m very happy to support Nikita with my vote and look forward to helping him get elected!”
The election for the Elk Grove School Board will be held on November 8th, 2016. To find out more information about Nikita Kostyuk, please visit his website: www.nikitakostyuk.com
