Man Allegedly Pushes Girlfriend Out of Moving Car and Runs from Police

Sanghar Roth was arrested Saturday in Elk Grove.

A 25-year-old man led police officers on a short chase early Saturday morning after he punched his girlfriend and pushed her out of a moving car, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.

Sanghar Roth, a Sacramento resident, left a party with his girlfriend around 2:45 a.m. Saturday after they got into an argument, a police department crime log states.

"While [Roth] was driving, he punched [the victim] in the face with a closed fist then pushed [her] out of the vehicle while it was still moving," the crime log states. "[Roth] then drove out of the area."

The victim was picked up by friends and brought back to the party, according to the department. Elk Grove Police Department spokesman Chris Trim said the victim suffered swelling to her eye and minor scrapes.

Officers responded to the location of the party, and Roth drove by as officers were leaving, the crime log says.

The officers attempted to stop Roth, and he drove away, according to the crime log. The officers pursued Roth until he crashed into a fence near Bruceville Road and Macado Ranch Drive, the crime log states.

"[Roth] exited the vehicle and fled on foot," the log says. "A perimeter was established and [he] was detained."

Roth was arrested on charges of domestic violence, evading police officers and other charges, but has since been released from jail, Trim said.
