Meet Santa and Kick off the Holiday Season at Dickens Faire Saturday
The 25th-annual Dickens Street Faire, presented by the Old Town Elk Grove Foundation, will be held Saturday.
Now that Thanksgiving has passed, Elk Grove residents will have a chance to kick off the countdown toward Christmas by meeting Santa and watching a tree-lighting ceremony in Old Town Elk Grove Saturday.
The Old Town Elk Grove Foundation's 25th-annual Dickens Street Faire will be held all day Saturday in Old Town Elk Grove. The events will begin with a pancake breakfast with Santa at 8 a.m. and will continue all the way until the tree-lighting ceremony and Parade of Lights at 6 p.m.
Along the way, the Cosumnes Fire Department will carry on the tradition of rescuing Santa from the rooftop of an Elk Grove Boulevard business–the Elk Grove Citizen reports that popular spectacle will take place at 10:30 a.m.

Vendors, a petting zoo, a snow park and an outdoor ice skating rink top the list of other attractions at the event.
Getting there
Elk Grove Boulevard will be closed for the event between School and Derr streets starting at 6:30 a.m., according to the city. The closure will grow to Elk Grove-Florin and Waterman roads at 5:30 p.m. for the parade. Roads will re-open at 9 p.m.

The city will provide a free shuttle, according to a press release:
The City of Elk Grove will offer free shuttle service to the Dickens Street Faire from 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The shuttle service will pick up passengers every 15 minutes. Passengers are encouraged to park vehicles at one of the following locations and take e-tran shuttles to the event.
- Kerr Middle School, 8865 Elk Grove Blvd.
- Colton Insurance, 8837 Elk Grove Blvd.
- Shopping center at 8787 Elk Grove Blvd.
- Cosumnes CSD, 8820 Elk Grove Blvd.
- Sacramento Hmong Alliance Church, 9131 Locust St.
- Bel Air Market, 9435 Elk Grove Blvd.
