Run 4 Independence: Food Bank Benefit is Next Week

Elk Grove residents will be able to help hungry and needy residents next week by walking or running.

The Elk Grove Food Bank Services' annual will be held June 30 at Elk Grove Regional Park.

The 5K/10K event will provide funds to help "seniors, men, women, children and the homeless by providing food, clothing and services year round," according to a press release.

has recently seen its requests grow by 40 percent, the release states.

Registration for the race or as a "virtual runner" is $35, and $20 for participants 18 and younger.

The race-day schedule is as follows: Kids’ Quarter-mile Fun Run (12 and younger) – 8 a.m.; kids’ half-mile fun run (12 and younger) – 8:10 a.m.;
10K run and 5K run/walk – 8:30 a.m.; award ceremony – 10:15 a.m.
