Short Film Featuring Elk Grove Native Wins Accolade Award

Keiko Elizabeth, an Elk Grove native who made her television debut in an episode of "Days of Our Lives" last month, is featured in an award-winning short film debuting this weekend.

"The Last Great Romantic Comedy," which will premier Sunday in Beverly Hills, was awarded an award of merit at the Accolade Awards, which recognizes "cinematic gems and unique voices," according to its website.

Its IMDB page describes the 29-minute film this way: "Lost characters in a dimension where they were created and abandoned by their 'authors' must find a way to continue their stories and live their own lives."

Elizabeth, an Elk Grove High School alumna, appears as the character of "Sugar."

The film was directed by Gustavo Sampaio, whose production company is GooseMan Pictures.

For those unable to attend the Beverly Hills premier, Elizabeth is holding a "virtual launch party" for it and her Facebook fan page on Oct. 15.

"From 9 [p.m.] - 10 p.m., I'm hosting a Power Hour--not the drinking game, but a Posting Power Hour where I'll attempt to write 60 posts in 60 minutes," she wrote in an email newsletter. "Join me live to like, chat, post, etc. (I'll probably need the help to get to 60--eek!)."
