The carpool lanes of Highway 99 between Elk Grove and Laguna boulevards will be closed in both directions this weekend.
The closures are needed so crews can work on a bike and pedestrian overcrossing that will eventually connect trails on either side of the freeway.
A full press release from the city follows:

- Sunday, June 16 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The work is part of the $4.8 million project to build a 1,300 foot long and 14 foot wide Bike / pedestrian overcrossing over State Highway 99 spanning east and west Stockton Boulevard. The structure will connect to a new 2,640 foot long and 12 foot wide bike / walking trail in the City of Elk Grove.
Roadside message boards will be used to post the latest information. Unexpected weather may prolong or cause the work to be rescheduled. Caltrans urges motorists to use caution in this area and to "Slow for the Cone Zone".
