Students at Merryhill Elementary School in Elk Grove Presented Donation to Local Nonprofit

Students visited local food bank and homeless shelter, Loaves and Fishes, to present a $1,050 donation

Elk Grove, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2015) – On Oct. 9, students from Merryhill Elementary School in Elk Grove donated $1,050 to Loaves and Fishes, a local food bank and shelter for homeless men, women and children. The donation was a result of the school’s “Change for Change” drive in which classrooms competed against one another to collect the most change. The classroom that collected the most change, one of the first grade classes, held the honor of sending the full donation to the charity of their choice.

Loaves and Fishes, located in Sacramento, Calif. provides shelter and food to local families in need. Their many programs include a shelter for homeless women and children, a free private school for children 3 to 15 years old, advocacy efforts and a number of other programs that address homelessness.
