Two Children Killed in Sacramento Fire

The children were sleeping upstairs when a South Sacramento home caught fire.

Two sleeping children were killed early Tuesday morning when fire swept through a two story home in South Sacramento. The victims were a six-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl.

Firefighters say seven people were in the home when it caught fire. The other five made it out safely. The children who lost their lives were upstairs. When firefighters entered the home to battle the blaze, the interior stairwell had been burned away. They were forced to use ladders on the outside of the home to access the upstairs. By the time they reached the children, it was too late.
