Lighting Up Oakland
On October 3rd, from 2:00 until 5:30 East Bay residents are invited to a party to celebrate some of the things that make us great. We call It Lighting Up Oakland because the programs we support are among Oakland's brightest lights. We will convene at the famous California Ballroom, 1736 Franklin St. in Oakland and Light Up the afternoon with music, food and games while raising funds to support our programs that feed the hungry, educate the needy, take guns off the street, fight for justice, and spread our world with music!
Specifically, our raffle and live and silent auctions will help us continue to ...
* Provide meals and groceries to more than 3,000 needy Oaklanders annually.
* Provide more than $20,000 in scholarships and school supplies to local students annually.
* Work with OPD and faith partners to transform more than 100 street guns into garden tools annually.
* Open our doors to artists and audiences through dozens of concerts and recitals that enrich Oakland's vibrant cultural life.
The items for auction and raffle are incredible: handmade quilts, a dozen hand baked special cookies per month for a year; tickets to the Opera, Theater, Monterey Jazz Festival, Sharks Hockey, and Warriors/Valkyrie games - each with dinner at a nearby restaurant; a spa day; wine tasting in Napa; personal training, trips to resorts in Cabo and Tuscany; dinner prepared at your home by our rector who is also a chef; and two special items - lunch with Canon Sierra Reyes and Golf with that famous duffer Austin Rios; and a whole lot more.
