12-Year-Old Girl Walking In Crosswalk Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

ENCINITAS, CA — A 12-year-old girl was killed in a two-vehicle collision and an investigation was underway Saturday in northern San Diego County, authorities said.
Deputies from the department's North Coastal Sheriff's Station responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at 6:51 p.m. Friday at Encinitas Boulevard and Village Square Drive in Encinitas, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
A 44-year-old man driving a westbound Nissan Xterra collided with a southbound Ford Fusion driven by another 44-year-old man, according to preliminary details. The Xterra then struck the girl, who was walking in the crosswalk, Lt. Mike Davis said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both drivers remained at the scene and were not injured in the collision.
The cause of the crash was under investigation by North Coastal Station Traffic investigators and the sheriff's Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors.
