2nd North County Shooting Victim Dies In Hospital; Both Men ID'd

Officials identified the two, 19 and 20, shot Wednesday afternoon near Palomar College in San Marcos.

SAN MARCOS, CA — Two men shot Wednesday afternoon near Palomar College in San Marcos were identified today as Jesus Garcia, 19, of San Marcos, who died the day of the shooting, and Nicholas Tiefer, 20, of Vista, who died Saturday at a hospital, according to authorities.

The double shooting was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. near a park entrance on the 1300 block of West Borden Road, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.

Arriving deputies said Garcia was on the ground near the park's entrance and appeared to be shot multiple times in the upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Tiefer, who was found in the passenger seat of a nearby vehicle, suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and was hospitalized in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries over the weekend, officials said.

The two were friends, and motivation and circumstances are still under investigation, deputies said.
