5th-Graders End 260-Mile Bike Ride at Moonlight Beach

The students, along with mentors and parents, rode up to 50 miles a day in support of the Rancho Family YMCA.

A group of 5th-grade students rode into Moonlight beach on Saturday—finishing a trek of more than 260 miles.

The bike ride—which was organized by the Rancho Family YMCA’s Bike Club and included about 150 children, parents and mentors finished the ride across the state—purpose is to teach kids about the importance of hard work and dedication.

Dennis Bueker, a former fifth grade teacher from Deer Canyon Elementary School, founded The Ride Across California in 1991 in order for her fifth graders to gain confidence.
