ENCINITAS, CA — Four Encinitas students were celebrated during the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce's April Rising Star of the Month breakfast.
Leilah Crosby from Canyon Crest Academy, Caelan Kenney from La Costa Canyon High School, Jason Gallant from San Dieguito Academy, and Zach Bulich from Torrey Pines High School were recognized during the April 8 event at MiraCosta College's San Elijo campus. Families, school officials, elected representatives and community leaders attended the event.
"At the chamber, we are deeply committed to supporting education and uplifting the next generation of leaders," said Carol Knight, CEO of the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce. "Our final Rising Star breakfast of the school year was a special opportunity to celebrate the incredible students who continue to inspire us and represent the bright future of our community."
Now in its fourth year, the Rising Star program is a monthly breakfast that honors seniors from high schools in the San Dieguito Union High School District. The program recognizes students who demonstrate character, integrity, leadership and perseverance — qualities that make them role models in their schools and community, according to the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce.
All Rising Star students will have the opportunity to apply for scholarships that will be awarded at the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce's annual Salute to Education event on May 7. Since the program began, 110 students have been honored, with 17 scholarships awarded.
