ENCINITAS, CA — The Rhoades School in Encinitas has appointed Joshua Henriquez as its new elementary school principal, school officials announced.
Henriquez brings more than eight years of experience in private school education to the role. Most recently, he served as associate head of school at BASIS Independent School in San Jose.
In a statement, Henriquez said he plans to build on the school's existing strengths rather than make major changes.
"As Lower School Principal, I'm not coming in to make sweeping changes," Henriquez told Patch.
"I'm here to support the community, strengthen what already makes The Rhoades School special, and help continue providing an exceptional experience for students and parents because we all share the same goal — helping students succeed," he said. "I will continue to prioritize the open communication and collaboration Rhoades has cultivated between school and home, and will support the school's amazing academic community and further our mission to help students build the skills, confidence, and character needed to become thoughtful, engaged citizens."
Henriquez earned a bachelor's degree in religious education from West Coast Baptist College and a master's degree in educational leadership from Grand Canyon University.
According to the school, Henriquez is committed to maintaining high academic standards while creating an engaging learning environment and supporting teachers through coaching and collaboration.
