ENCINITAS, CA — The Encinitas branch of San Diego County Credit Union will join six other locations across San Diego County in hosting blood drives as local hospitals face seasonal shortages during the busy summer months.
The drives, held in partnership with the San Diego Blood Bank, are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 1.
Organizers said blood supplies are typically low during the summer. One pint of donated blood can help save up to three lives.
The Encinitas drive will be held at 501 N. El Camino Real. Other San Diego County locations are:
"Community blood donations play a vital role in helping local hospitals care for patients in need," SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Campbell said in a statement. "We're proud to continue our longstanding partnership with the San Diego Blood Bank and encourage those who are able to donate."
SDCCU has partnered with the San Diego Blood Bank for more than 20 years. Residents interested in donating can register through the San Diego Blood Bank.
