Encinitas Friends of the Arts Presents 13th Annual Encinitas Día de los Muertos Celebration (thevistapress.com) — Encinitas families can mark their calendars for the free 13th Annual Encinitas Día de los Muertos festival on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at MiraCosta College's San Elijo campus. Expect live cultural performances, kids' art workshops, a community ofrenda, lowrider car show, local student artwork, and giveaways, all backed by Encinitas Friends of the Arts and city partners.
   

2. North County heat records fall as region eyes tropical storm (northcoastcurrent.com) — Encinitas just endured triple-digit heat in Encinitas Highlands and now faces hazardous surf, possible coastal flooding and strong rip currents as Tropical Storm Rachel approaches this weekend. Forecasters expect heavy rain, gusty winds and elevated surf along beaches from Del Mar through Encinitas and beyond, with coastal flood warnings and advisories in effect through Sunday and into Tuesday.
   

3. Encinitas, Solana Beach nonprofits among 17 chosen for Amplified support (northcoastcurrent.com) — Coastal Roots Farm in Encinitas has been selected for new consulting support from Amplified Impact Partners, part of the group's largest-ever cycle of 17 nonprofit engagements. The free consulting will help strengthen operations, strategy, and long-term sustainability as local organizations face rising community needs and limited resources across North County and San Diego County.
   

4. 2027 CA Teachers of the Year Announced (ca.gov) — An Encinitas Union School District teacher, Katie Andan of La Costa Heights Elementary, has been named one of California's 2027 Teachers of the Year and will represent the state in the national competition. She joins four other educators from across California being honored for their classroom excellence and commitment to students, with state officials highlighting their impact on schools and communities.
   

5. 2026 School Bond Transparency Report Card (sandiegounified.org) — Encinitas residents now have a first look at how transparently Encinitas Union School District reports its school bond spending, with the district earning a "B" in a new countywide report card. The San Diego County Taxpayers Association graded 24 districts on posting audits, project lists and oversight activity, highlighting where Encinitas and neighboring systems excel and where performance audits and committee independence still lag.
