• Encinitas backs 101 crossing design near Solana Beach border (thecoastnews.com) — Encinitas officials have endorsed a new design for South Coast Highway 101 near the Solana Beach border, adding a pedestrian signal and multiuse path by Harbaugh Seaside Trail to improve safety. The plan keeps four vehicle lanes, buffered bike lanes, and removes bollards and curb stops that officials say complicate emergency access, while aiming for a consistent corridor from Chesterfield to Solana Beach.
• Encinitas crime, homeless-related incidents decline as patrols increase (thecoastnews.com) — Encinitas officials report that overall crime and homeless-related emergency calls have dropped in the first nine months of 2026, thanks in part to more proactive sheriff's patrols. At the same time, fire leaders say call volumes are rising slightly and response times at Stations 3 and 6 still miss city goals, prompting plans to relocate Station 6 to better cover Olivenhain.
• Kelvin wave brings unusual high tides and erosion to San Diego coast (fox5sandiego.com) — Encinitas is among several San Diego County beaches seeing unusually high tides and creeping coastal flooding driven by a rare Kelvin wave and expanded warm ocean water. Local coastal data experts say tides are running six to ten inches higher than charts suggest, pushing water into new areas and accelerating erosion, prompting cities to monitor vulnerable bluffs and shorelines closely.
