The 17-year-old, who trains daily in Encinitas, hopes this breakthrough win will launch a professional surfing career and set up a possible repeat next year.
• Encinitas to draft new ICE ordinance, increase resources (inewsource.org) — Encinitas residents should know their City Council just unanimously advanced six measures to limit local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement and boost transparency and resources for affected families. The plan includes drafting an ICE-related ordinance, improving public reporting, and partnering with community groups as residents describe escalating enforcement in Encinitas neighborhoods.
