📰 News we're reading

• Encinitas OKs interim rent moratorium for mobile home parks (inewsource.org) — Encinitas has frozen rent increases at mobile home parks through July, capping annual hikes at 3.5 percent this year while the city crafts a permanent policy. The unanimous City Council vote followed intense organizing by SOS Encinitas residents facing steep proposed increases, and sets up a broader debate between tenant advocates and park owners over long‑term rent protections.

• Wayfarer Bread & Pastry Teams Up With Local Partners to Begin Expansion (whatnow.com) — Encinitas is being considered as a future home for popular San Diego bakery Wayfarer Bread & Pastry, which is planning its first North County expansion by 2027. The Bird Rock shop will remain the flagship while partners scout coastal locations like Encinitas and Oceanside, aiming to open standalone bakeries that bake everything in-house daily.
