📰 News we're reading

• Encinitas to increase efforts to reduce ICE impacts, seek more info from federal agencies (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Encinitas residents should know their City Council unanimously voted to step up efforts to support local immigrant families affected by recent ICE actions and to seek more information on federal activities in town. The decision follows reports of several Encinitas families impacted by immigration-related arrests, earlier protests over a school-area detention, and growing concern about federal agents' presence near schools and workplaces.

• San Diego Rose Society to host 5-day World Rose Symposium in spring 2027 (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Encinitas gardeners may want to note that the 2027 World Rose Symposium will include tours of the San Diego Botanic Garden, showcasing thousands of plant species and miles of trails. The five-day Mission Bay event will draw rose experts and enthusiasts from around the world, with lectures, competitions, rare plant auctions, and optional extended tours across Southern and Central California.
