Waste Management Surprises Oceanside Residents with Prize Patrol

This week, Waste Management surprised 5 randomly selected Oceanside residents with the Green Prize Patrol to reward their good green waste recycling habits.  Good green waste recycling included no trash or plastic bags, only acceptable material is in the cart, and material cut down to size to fit into the carts.  Waste Management presented residents with a $25 gift card to a hardware store.

“Rewarding our customers for doing the right thing brings a smile to my face,” said Lori Somers, Community & Municipal Relations Representative, of Waste Management, North County.  “There is nothing like hearing the surprised tone in someone’s voice when you call and say, ‘thank you’.”

In the city of Oceanside, green waste makes up over 1/3 of the material Waste Management collects.  The green waste that is collected in Oceanside is brought to the local compost and mulching facility off of Oceanside Blvd., and this material once processed into mulch and compost is free to Oceanside residents to reuse in their yards and gardens.
