Arrests Made During Encinitas DUI Checkpoint
The checkpoint was held Saturday night on Coast Highway 101 in Cardiff, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.

ENCINITAS, CA: Three drivers were arrested during a checkpoint that ended early Sunday in Encinitas, authorities said.
The checkpoint was set up in the 1800 block of South Coast Highway 101 in Cardiff from about 8 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday, deputies said.
Of the 652 vehicles that drove through the checkpoint, 33 of them were pulled over for further screening. Seven field sobriety tests were given. Two of the drivers were arrested for drunk driving and a third driver was taken into custody for driving under the influence of drugs. Two drivers who had been drinking were determined to have a blood alcohol content below the legal threshold of .08 percent.
Four vehicles were impounded at the Encinitas checkpoint while four drivers were cited for driving without a license and one driver got a ticket for driving on a suspended license, according to deputies.
