Some Promises Are Hard To Keep

Making promises - with your fingers crossed.

Okay, I’ll stop verbally bashing Christians. Two very intense ladies asked me, sort of, to stop. And always ready to oblige a lady’s request (no, not that kind – not since I was much younger and friskier), I hereby desist. At least, I’ll try. I hope that means they’ll return the favor by not proselytizing, preaching, or in any way promoting superstitious beliefs, invisible men in the sky, or my going to hell. (Oops, I may have slipped a bit there. I meant no harm.)

I forgot to ask the ladies, does this mean no bashing religions of any kind, or just yours? Obviously, I shouldn’t bash Jesus. How about the prophets? No? How about Moses? Elijah? Job? Joel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Obadiah, Daniel . . . Mohammed? My goodness, can’t I even bash Joseph Smith? He was an unabashed prophet.

You have to be careful these days. You can just mention a prophet and start a riot. So, exactly who or what can I bash? When I started this blog, a friend suggested, you have to bash something – how will you ever get cranks to write in? Well, so far, it’s only been a few cranks, a guy running for office, and some reasonable pros and cons (no double entendre there). But no riots!

How about Republicans? Almost everybody is bashing Mitt. I won’t say a word about his religion. However, he does need saving. If ever I’ve seen a man going to hell in a hand basket, it’s Mitt. Can someone please help him out? Then go help out all those Tea Party fruitcakes in Congress – help the poisonous do-nothings out of office. I know the Tea Party is a very religious affair. I won’t disparage their biblical beliefs, just their refusal to compromise. I’d like them all to go to hell, but that’s sort of a religious concept, and I promised not to go there.

How am I doing, ladies?
