San Diego Alliance for APIAs Announces 19th Annual San Diego Dragon Boat Festival
A Day of Racing, Culture, and Community Celebration — Free to the Public

San Diego, CA — May 16, 2026 — The San Diego Alliance for Asian Pacific Islander Americans (APIAs) proudly invites the community to attend the 19th Annual San Diego Dragon Boat Festival, taking place on Saturday, May 16, 2026 in the Mission Bay.

This vibrant, family-friendly event celebrates the rich diversity of Pan-Asian cultures through an exciting combination of high-energy dragon boat racing and cultural performances.

On the water, more than 30 dragon boat teams will compete in thrilling races, paddling in sync to the powerful beat of drums. On land, attendees can enjoy more than 10 dynamic cultural performances, showcasing traditions from across Asia and the Pacific Islands.

The festival is free and open to the public. In previous years, the event has brought together nearly 600 enthusiastic paddlers, performers, and spectators, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere for all ages.

Distinguished local leaders, including the Mayor of San Diego Todd Gloria and City Council member Kent Lee, are expected to be in attendance, underscoring the festival’s importance as a cornerstone community event.

“As we celebrate our 19th year, we are excited to bring the community together once again for a day of culture, competition, and connection,” said Ms. Linda Tu, advisor and former President of the Alliance for APIA. “This year’s festival promises even more excitement, energy, and unforgettable moments.”
