Cassie is pet of the week at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society. She’s a 10 year old, 17 pound, female, Dachshund mix.
Her owner went into an assisted living facility with no plans for her. Cassie was surrendered to a rescue in the Imperial Valley then transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through the FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters) program.
She needs a fenced yard to take her breaks until she’s ready to go on walks.

Special Note. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Pets left behind by Domestic Violence victims are likely to become the new victims. Rather than make their pets the targets, human victims stay.
The Animal Safehouse Program at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society is the safety net for the pets of Domestic Violence.
Abusers can be husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, parents, children, and roommates. Battering occurs in all races, ages, socio-economic classes, religions, occupations, and education levels.
If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, let the Animal Safehouse Program be the safety net for your pet. Contact Rancho Coastal Humane Society at 760-753-6413 or log on to www.sdpets.org.
