The City of Encinitas, along with San Diego County Office of Emergency Services and other coastal cities, is engaged with Orange County officials and closely monitoring the impacts of the oil spill that occurred Saturday, October 2, 2021, off the coast of Huntington Beach roughly 50 miles to the north. There is no impact to the City at this time and our beaches remain open. Lifeguards are closely monitoring our coastline for signs of oil. We will provide updates as any changes in the situation occur. Updates on the spill can be found at socalspillresponse.com
