Coast Highway 101 Open To Bicyclists, Pedestrians One Day In January
Join Cyclovia Encinitas — for a car free bike ride on Jan. 8 in Encinitas.

ENCINITAS, CA — One Sunday in January, Coast Highway will open up to bicyclists in Encinitas. Welcome to Cyclovia - a family friendly event that opens up Encinitas to bicycle riders, pedestrians and other means of self-powered transportation.
Expect live music, activities and a mountain bike pump track in the first open-street event in North San Diego County.
"Swing by multiple locations where live music and activities will be. The San Diego Mountain Bike Association will host a bike skills/pump track area," according to a recent news release from the city of Encinitas. "The San Diego County Bike Coalition will host a bicycle safety rodeo course and provide bike racks and bike valets for people traveling by bikes downtown."

Visitors can stop and learn about many bike and mobility related programs and projects at various booths hosted by the City of Encinitas and partner agencies.

- Bike Skills Pump Track hosted by the San Diego Mountain Bike Association at Coast Highway/G St.
- Safety Skills Rodeo course hosted by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition at Coast Highway/H St.

Spanish for "cycleway," Cyclovia closes streets to automobiles, allowing cyclists, skaters and pedestrians access on open streets.
Cyclovia Encinitas is the first and open-street event in North County.
"This is a partnership effort between the City of Encinitas Environmental Commission, the Traffic and Public Safety Commission, with support from the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and Encinitas 101. The event is intended to promote mobility and the City's Climate Action Plan," a city of Encinitas spokesperson said.
Highway 101 will close to traffic from D to J Streets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023.
