EmbroidMe Encinitas is holding it’s 7th Annual “Hair Drive”: Chop it off for Charity

President/Owner, Sandra Sapol, will “Chop it off for Charity” once again this year, as she first donated her hair in September 2007 & 2009 to the Locks of Love organization in honor of her dear friend Michelle Tehrani who ended her 6 year battle with Breast Cancer in May 2006. At the time of Michelle’s first Death Anniversary in May 2007, Sandra felt an enormous desire to do something to honor Michelle and thought the best way was to donate 10” of her hair to the Locks of Love Organization.

Sandra holds the event each year by having participants bring their cut hair in a bag, that she in turn sends in to Locks of Love.“This way, I feel that even though my hair isn’t long enough to donate, the community involvement makes me feel like I am still honoring my friend”, says Sandra.

The donated hair will benefit Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides recipients with a custom, vacuum-fitted hairpiece made entirely from donated human hair. The vacuumfit is designed for children who have experienced a total loss ofscalp hair and does not require the use of tape of glue. Most of the recipients of the hairpieces suffer from an autoimmune condition called alopecia areata for which there is no known cure.

Donated hair must follow these strict guidelines:-Hair must be 10” in length-Hair must be bundled in a pony tail or a braid-Bleached hair cannot be used but permed /dyed is approved.Hair donations accepted May 1-15, 2014 at: EmbroidMe Encinitas191 N El Camino Real, Suite 202 Encinitas, CA 92024 Monday - Friday 9am to 6pm760-943-8022
