Encinitas Chamber Of Commerce Launches New Program For Local Students

The Rising Star program will recognize local high school students.

ENCINITAS, CA — The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce has launched a new program to celebrate local high school students.

The Rising Star program will recognize students who have demonstrated character, integrity, love of learning and involvement in school and community, and/or have overcome challenging life circumstances without compromising their education, according to the organization.

Starting in November, San Dieguito Union High School students will be celebrated each month at a recognition breakfast and have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship that will be awarded in May 2023, according to the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce. The first Rising Star breakfast will take place Nov. 8 at Piña Encinitas in the Moonlight Plaza Shopping Center.

"The mission of honoring those who have overcome adversity to make a positive impact on their community is one that will encourage students and adults alike to persevere through challenging situations. Our district is filled with hard-working and dedicated students, and these current and future leaders are deserving of this acknowledgement.

The organization's Rising Star program was inspired by other North County chamber programs, according to Encinitas Chamber of Commerce CEO Sherry Yardley.

"The chamber thrives on bringing the community together, and we are glad to honor these deserving high school seniors who are making such a difference in their home, schools and communities," Yardley said.
