Encinitas Gains New Fire Chief To Replace Chief Stein
Deputy Chief Josh Gordon now leads the Fire and Marine Safety Departments in Encinitas and Fire Departments in Solana Beach and Del Mar.

ENCINITAS, CA — Encinitas, Solana Beach and Del Mar have a new fire chief, it was announced this week. On Wednesday, Encinitas Fire and Marine Services Deputy Chief Josh Gordon was tasked with leading the Encinitas Fire and Marine Safety Department and Solana Beach and Del Mar Fire Departments.
Gordon, who has worked at the Encinitas Fire Department for over ten years, fills the gap left after longtime Fire Chief Mike Stein left in November.
In an open letter to the cities he now serves, Gordon said he wants to create an organization focused on prioritizing competent emergency operations, sustainable leadership and systemic collaboration.
