Encinitas Historic Bus Tour To Offer Rare Look Inside Bumann Ranch

ENCINITAS, CA — A rare opportunity to tour one of Encinitas' oldest surviving homesteads will highlight the Encinitas Preservation Association's annual historical bus tour Sept. 26.

The three-hour tour will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and include more than 60 historic points of interest, with stops at Olivenhain Town Hall and the San Dieguito Heritage Museum and a drive through the former Ecke Poinsettia Farm.

The Bumann Ranch, which was homesteaded in 1886, has been preserved with its historic buildings and contents largely unchanged. Three generations of the Bumann family have lived on the property for more than 125 years, according to the association.

Of the many homestead ranches that once lined Encinitas' backcountry, the Bumann Ranch is the only one that remains today.

The tour will depart at 10 a.m. from Pacific View Arts Center at 380 F St.

The 1883 School House will be open for viewing after the tour. Parking will be available at Pacific View.

Tickets cost $60 and can be purchased through Eventbrite.

Proceeds support preservation of the SS Moonlight and SS Encinitas, two historic boathouses acquired by the association in 2008.
