ENCINITAS, CA — The Encinitas Rotary Club has awarded a $2,000 grant to help build a basketball court for youth in the community of Panabaj, Guatemala.
The court will provide a dedicated recreational space for about 50 students ages 13 and older, according to the club.
Panabaj, a marginalized community with limited government support, currently has no formal recreational facilities. Rotary officials said the court is intended to promote community development, physical activity and youth engagement.
