Encinitas Surf Report Dec. 3-4

Smaller, less consistent today; 2 feet at best.

The shoulder-high NW swell that lasted a few days has backed off into the knee-high range. Trace SW ground energy also lingers.

Water temp is cold: 57-58.

Tide is outgoing until 11:00 a.m. at 2 feet; high tide: 4:30 p.m. at 3.8 feet.

Conditions are clear and some lines do connect all the way in. But most are short-lived.

Winds should be light offshore for most of the day.

Wait long enough and you’ll find a fun 3-feet surf; but it’s mostly weak today.

As for tomorrow, Sunday the fourth, expect similar conditions with NW two-feet surf. Later in the day, a new SW groundswell is due, possibly bringing 4-feet surf.
