Got a thing for homes and gardens? Then you'll want to take part in the seventh annual Encinitas Garden Festival and Tour.
This family-fun event features a self-guided walking tour of more than 20 private gardens in a hidden corner of Leucadia. Residents will open their garden gates to welcome the public for this special one-day tour.
When you're not touring around the beautiful gardens of Leucadia, you can stop by The Gardener’s Marketplace, which will serve as the central hub of the festival. Here you will find vendors offering up unusual plants, vegetable seedlings, garden art and more. Exhibitors and guest speakers will also be in the Marketplace providing visitors with information about gardening around San Diego. Click here for a list of the vendors. They will cover topics such as:

The 2012 tour features a hidden corner of Leucadia where garden tourists will stroll through a tropical oasis filled with rare plants, a private sanctuary garden with French touches, a historic Spanish home and garden, a canyon-side garden with stunning views of habitat and ocean, along with several artists’ gardens.
A portion of the proceeds from the Encinitas Garden Festival go into the Encinitas Garden Festival Fund at the Coastal Community Foundation. Funds are reinvested throughout the City in the form of gardening books for local libraries, funding for public landscaping, school gardens, and other garden-related projects.
