Community Habitat Restoration at Gateway Park

Enjoy community volunteerism and pristine coastal views at Gateway Park, the 3.44-acre nexus of Cardiff-by-the-Sea and Solana Beach, east of Scenic Highway 101.

This unique Community Habitat Restoration event (held monthly in locations throughout San Elijo Lagoon) is directed by San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy, the nonprofit land trust for San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve.

Held rain or shine on Saturday morning, April 21, from 9 am until Noon, the event falls in line with California Native Plant Week and EarthDay activities.

Participants will focus on clippings of non-native plants before they seed in late spring, debris removal, and enjoy a guided tour of the Gateway Property and the fragile coastal dunes ecosystem by Conservancy biologists.

A capital campaign is under way to secure Gateway Park. Funds raised will allow the Conservancy to repay lenders and ensure permanent protection of this special ecological treasure by end of year.
