Ready to stretch out by the sea and balance your health with the environment's? Come do some beneficial yoga on Sunday, June 3.
This donation-based yoga class will be taught by Encinitas instructor Jean-Christophe Haskell, who will tailor the yoga to the day's theme: clean water.
Surfrider San Diego is currently lobbying the City of San Diego and various other cities in the county to upgrade the water treatment plants to provide the resources of recycled water, as opposed to desalination. Desalination will cause the killing of surrounding marine life. Surfrider believes thaat treating "wastewater" so it can be reused for consumption requires a fraction of the energy of desalination, and has positive, rather than negative impacts, on water quality and the local aquatic habitat. Other counties, including Orange County, and cities like El Paso, Scottsdale and Fairfax all utilize this "greener" process.

Haskell will be posing with other yogis at Sea Grove Park in Del Mar, at the end of 15th St., on June 3 at 10 a.m. to help raise money and support Surfrider's campaign to stop desalination. Your donations at the yoga event will go toward reprinting campaign materials and covering the travel costs to/from Sacramento to lobby California legislative leaders on various bills, and to present the Surfrider Foundation's ideas on effective water management.
