Pending formal board approval, Miller will begin work on July 1 — the same day his predecessor, Jason Viloria, is slated to begin his role as superintendent of the Laguna Beach Unified School District.
Miller said he is “excited to be back in the San Dieguito Union High School District and is incredibly honored to be selected to be a part of the district’s efforts to provide the highest quality education for all students.”
As the head of administrative services, Miller will oversee leadership of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), School Accountability Report Cards (SARC), pupil services, standardized testing, special education, categorically supported academic and campus support programs.
Most of all, Miller said, he is excited to begin engaging with parents, students and staff as he gets re-acquainted with the SDUHSD community.
In other administrative changes, Superintendent Schmitt announced in April that he was leaving to accept a position as superintendent of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District in Northern California.
Eric Dill, who is associate superintendent of business services for SDUHSD, was selected to serve as interim superintendent—also beginning July 1 — until the Board of Trustees makes its permanent selection for the position.
