Firefighters Battle Encinitas House Fire

ENCINITAS, CA – Firefighters extinguished a fire that sparked at a detached studio of a home Monday in Encinitas, the Encinitas Fire Department confirmed to Patch.

The blaze broke out around 3:30 p.m. at the home in the 800 block of Saxony Road, across from Leucadia Boulevard, said Battalion Chief Michael Spaulding. Firefighters, along with sheriff's deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Station responded to scene.

"The first on scene arriving engines found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of a structure," Spaulding said at the scene. "The investigators are up there doing their investigation right now."

Sheriff's deputies confirmed with the resident that there was no one inside the structure, Sgt. Shane Watts said.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
