The State of Hawaii will pay a local family $15 million for the 2006 death of an Encinitas woman.
Elizabeth Brem, of Encinitas, and Paula Ramirez died on Dec. 19, 2006 when they fell off a cliff while hiking in Kauai, according to UT San Diego.
The settlement may be the largest the state has paid for a wrongful death lawsuit, according to the newspaper.
