Her Abortion Is None Of Your Business

If you answer that her murdering a baby is our business, then you must obviously consider abortion a legally punishable offense. That slippery slope leads to jail time at the very least – in some states, it might some day condemn her to death. Better to kill her than the fetus, apparently.

Where in your Bible does it say it’s okay to murder abortion doctors, but it’s not okay for a woman impregnated by a rapist to have a legal abortion? Where does it say that a 14-year-old girl raped by her father must carry her might-be-demented embryo to full term? Where does it say that having premarital sex is a sin, punishable by childbirth?

Yes, I am aware that many so-called Christians think unmarried sex is a sin. It is not a crime. Those who think so are undoubtedly good, moral, church-going men, and their zealously religious mates. Of course, they give a pass to their sons who have premarital sex. (It was her fault – in any case, he was told to use a condom.)

The most sexually frustrated population on earth, Americans, are petrified by the prospect of abortion-prevention pills and contraceptives being sold over the counter to everyone including teenagers. They say such availability would encourage young girls to have sex! Really, they need encouragement?

Just tie their legs together (didn’t some Senator suggest something like that?) until a rich, handsome prince comes looking to marry her. Until then, no sex, and for heaven’s sake, no abortions!

We know there is a crowd of mostly men who want to ignore women’s Fourteenth Amendment rights. While the 14th does not specify women’s right to abortion, it does mention the right to privacy. In 1973, the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade attempted to finalize the question, and led to legalized abortions “until viability.” It is the law of the land. What part of those few words gives anyone, especially men, the right to tell women what they may or may not do with their bodies?

How about an Amendment that allows us to castrate rapists? How about jail time for serial fornicators?

Abortion is a woman’s very personal, difficult to come by decision, made after consulting with a licensed doctor, her conscience, and when appropriate, her family. We hope that abortions are rare; we can’t legislate against them.

Her abortion is none of our damned business!
